"When I look at it now, it tells a different story. It feels more confident and sure to me, and It better portrays the central image. It’s a long story to say this, but this was my way of saying that I’m not afraid to speak about what went on..."
To be straight forward... I was homeless during the creation of this piece. I'd spent years up until this point spending so much of my time trying to uphold the standards of people who didn't care about me, until i realized that I deserved more than that. This painting marks a time during a period of my life where I allowed myself to accept what I knew instead of what i was told to know. This is where my confidence comes from. This painting became a way to show myself that it’s possible to take control back, regardless of how hard that might be. There's light at the end, even if it seems far.
